It is a way of slowing down; a technique which results in an altered state of mind, a calming of the mind and body which helps you find stability and calmness free from desires, thoughts and emotions. It is the true way to unfold the Spiritual Awareness which is deep in the innermost being of all people. It arises from the heart and is really the “Awakening and Opening” of the heart centre through love and light.
Meditation gives you the ability to see the larger picture, to prioritise, facing each task without getting stressed and bringing peace within our self in a positive way. The one thing meditation teaches us is that the sense of peace already exists within each of us and we all have a deep desire for it even if it’s hidden.
The aim of meditation is to bring peace within our self in a positive way. Our minds can be restless and confused as through the day we may experience anxiety, depression, anger, disappointment or frustration and this can create stress and muscular tension so we may find it difficult to relax. It is therefore essential to create positive and peaceful thoughts in order to progress.
You can spend as little or as much of your time as you can spare, fitting it into your day to day schedule, although the more regular you do Meditation the better and easier it will become.
I hold three courses a year - an eight week Awareness/Meditation course for £50.00 which includes handouts where applicable or one to one sessions for £30.00 - a session is usually between one and one and a half hours.
No, there is no need to buy special music when you first start as long as you have music you can relax to although it does help if you have a guided meditation CD. My CD contains two twenty minute tracks and if you would like to listen to an extract from each track please go to the CD purchase page.
Yes, please click on Various types of Meditation to see the list.
Listening to a CD for music or following a Guided Meditation CD will help but it is much better to join a group/course as you will have the support of the teacher and be able to discuss any problems you might have in relaxing and meditating correctly.
To have a one to one before you join a group/course will help to allay any concerns you might have concerning the meditation.
If you are using the "Simple Meditation" method you are just sitting with your eyes closed allowing the music to wash through you and relaxing but if you are using a deeper Meditation method you must be taught how to bring yourself round after the meditation or use a Guided Meditation CD.
