It is a way of slowing down; a technique
which results in an altered state of mind, a calming of the mind and
body which helps you find stability and calmness free from desires,
thoughts and emotions. It is the true way to
unfold the Spiritual Awareness which is deep in the innermost being
of all people. It arises from the heart and is
really the “Awakening and Opening” of the heart centre through love
and light.
The one thing meditation teaches us is that
the sense of peace already exists within each of us and we all have
a deep desire for it even if it’s hidden. The aim
of meditation is to bring peace within our self in a spiritual and
positive way. Our minds can be restless and
confused as through the day we may experience anxiety, depression,
anger, disappointment or frustration and this can create stress and
muscular tension so we may find it difficult to relax.
It is therefore essential to create positive and peaceful
thoughts in order to progress
To progress along the spiritual pathway it
is important to learn to meditate effectively and to this we must
learn to relax and be still. We need reasonable
conditions of warmth, comfort, peace and quite, a period of time
when we will not be disturbed. Good posture is
also important to allow the chakras to align and fully function and
so the best position is sitting with both feet on the floor, hands
on the lap, head and shoulders relaxed and eyes closed.
When meditating we need to remain balanced,
in contact with mother earth so we visualise our base chakra energy,
(which is a deep red) flowing down our legs and through our feet
into the earth or a pure white light extending from the base of the
spine into the earth like roots of a tree.
As we progress with our relaxation and
meditation we feel an increasing sense of peace and tranquillity, an
inner harmony (peace of mind). It can bring
tremendous benefits on all levels aiding and improving physical,
psychological, emotional and spiritual health. To
empty the mind is not easy, try focusing on a flower, candle flame,
still lake or any image you find relaxing and it is important to sit
still to avoid disturbing others and as you become more focused your
mind clears enabling you to look at things more objectively without
the day to day clutter.
Spiritual meditation is a path to
enlightenment to connecting with your higher self and soul and can
carry you to a state of bliss, peace, calm and joy.
When you move into a state of meditation your heart
rate decreases, the body relaxes and your brain waves alter
and move into a slower, deeper wave pattern reflecting a deep state
of relaxation of the mind and this is the final or advanced stage of
meditation, the benefits of which you will reap from this deeper
state of relaxation.
Meditation opens the door to awareness and
your own inner wisdom and this is helped by reading, discussion and
sharing your experiences with other members of your circle.
In order to grow spiritually we need to make time simply to
be, seeking that peace found within each of us.
Meditation is a physical and mental discipline, learning to train
our minds and still our body. Don’t be discouraged if
your progress feels slow as we each work at our own pace and often
when we feel we are getting nowhere our guides and helpers come
through to reassure us, so believe and it will happen.
To achieve good results patient is required and you should try to make meditation a regular habit as this allows the deeper regions to open up then the innermost self is reached. This will develop your awareness, insight and intuition which can then lead on to developing as a healer, medium or just to be more spiritually aware, the choice is yours.
